Skin disorders include a wide range of conditions that affect the skin’s appearance, texture, and function. They may result from internal health imbalances, environmental factors, allergies, infections, or chronic inflammatory conditions. Maintaining healthy skin often requires addressing both external symptoms and underlying internal causes.
Skin problems may develop due to hormonal imbalances, allergies, poor digestion, unhealthy eating habits, stress, environmental pollution, excessive sun exposure, infections, genetic factors, or weakened immunity. Furthermore, the accumulation of toxins within the body may also contribute to recurring skin concerns.
Symptoms vary depending on the condition but commonly include itching, redness, acne, rashes, pigmentation, dryness, excessive oiliness, scaling, inflammation, skin irritation, or recurrent infections. Therefore, identifying the underlying cause is essential for achieving long-term skin health and preventing frequent flare-ups.
According to Ayurveda, healthy skin depends on balanced Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas, strong digestive fire (Agni), and pure blood (Rakta Dhatu). Furthermore, toxin accumulation (Ama) and imbalances in Pitta and Rakta are often associated with many chronic skin conditions. Ayurvedic treatment focuses on detoxification, balancing the doshas, improving digestion, purifying the blood, and nourishing the skin from within using personalized herbal therapies and lifestyle modifications.
